  • CACIB Leipzig (DE) – 7.9.2025

How can I put it – simply disastrous!

Yes, we were warned that it was pointless to register Freddy at his current stage of development with the renowned judge Mr. Eberhardt, but we didn't listen. And that's how it turned out.

Hugo clearly wanted to "stick with" Freddy in his own way, so he remembered the period when he made a big mess and showed his owner that walking with him in the ring is not for just anyone :-), so he didn't sell his obvious strengths this time. At times, it looked like they would be disqualified, but in the end, they left with a VG2 rating (out of 3), but perhaps it would have been better if they had withdrawn.

So, this trip to Germany wasn't a success, but we did have a nice lunch stop in Chomutov and got home in the afternoon.

  • 2x CACIB and 1xCAC in Lucerne (CH) – 30.8.-31.8.2025

Exhibition weekend abroad – Hugo and his owner are taking home another CAC for the Swiss championship, unfortunately only one (we prefer not to comment on the quality and fairness of Sunday's judging), so he will have to return to Switzerland once more to win the Swiss championship.

Together with their owner, they fought their way to third place in Senior Handling (out of seven participants) on Sunday. Yes, we tried our hand at handling competition. 🙂 and we obviously received in TDH Team & Academy very good training, and the Czech judge was a big surprise for us. It is a pity that this type of competition is not held at Czech national and international shows (although there are already some signs of it at regional shows in Provodovice and also at international shows in Nitra, Slovakia). So we'll see when one of our junior handlers dares to take their headstrong beagle to a junior handling competition.

On Saturday, Freddy achieved two times Excellent 3 ratings, and we were particularly pleased with the afternoon assessment. Unfortunately, on Sunday, our concerns about the selection and evaluation of the junior class were confirmed once again, with head and lip size being prioritized over overall correct and solid body structure.

    Results:

    Hugo (Néreus Hare and Hounds)

Saturday – CACIB I – Exc 1, CAC in intermediate class

Sunday – CACIB II – VG1 (1/2) in the intermediate class

    Freddy (Piccolino z Negraland)

Saturday – CAC – Exc 3 (3/4) in junior class

    Saturday – CACIB I – Exc 3 (3/4) in junior class

Sunday – CACIB II – VG4 (4/4) in junior class

    Judges:

Saturday CAC – Milan Milanović (SRB)

    Saturday CACIB I – Leif-Herman Wilberg (NO)

Sunday CACIB II – Andrea Wanner (CH)

Sunday CACIB II – Senior handling – Kristina Vaníčková (CZ)

  • Interdog Bohemia Mladá Boleslav – 23.8.2025

Before the next exhibition weekend begins, here are the results from the Interdog Bohemia International Exhibition in Mladá Boleslav – Saturday, August 23, 2025.

Hugo (Néreus Hare and Hounds) introduced himself with his excellent handler Ester Miháleková and in the intermediate class they received V1 and CAC (out of 2) with their usual excellent performance.

Freddy (Piccolino z Negraland) was handled by the amazing young junior handler Anna Plundrová, and despite strong competition, they earned a VG3 rating (out of 4). We are amazed at how well Annie handles Freddy and shows him off beautifully.

We are very happy with them and thank them both for not giving up on their headstrong beagles.

    Judge: Bryan Mangelsdorf (AUS)

Unfortunately, Freddy is entering a period of uncertain results. He needs more time to grow into his final form, which is aimed at the center of the breed standard, and is therefore currently at a disadvantage compared to his already overgrown colleagues in the junior class.

  • Hugo at NDS in Mladá Boleslav – 19.7.2025

In order to show Hugo (Néreus Hare and Hounds) at shows in the Czech Republic, we have planned national and international grass shows at home this summer. The second, and much more successful, show was the National show in Mladá Boleslav. Hugo and his owner went to the show alone (Freddy and his owner competed in Hungary) and of course also Hugo's handler Ester Miháleková was there (it looks like Hugo finally found the right "show girl" and now we will see him regularly in her hands).

Together they did very well, the nice performance was duly appreciated both by verbal evaluation and by winning Exc. 1 and CAC in intermediate class. In the final fight for the National Winner they have not succeeded yet, but everything has its time.

Anyway, Hugo started another, this time domestic, adult championship. It's his eighth in a row, so he'll have a lot of work to do in the next year to finally collect them all 🙂 For many of them we are basically waiting for the next show season or some other time limiting rule, but for 20 months of age a pretty good result.

  • National Show in Klatovy – 28.6.2025

We didn't want to go to the National Show in Klatovy at first. In the end, we couldn't resist and entered Hugo at the last minute... but we shouldn't have done it. After a very demanding month-long program, which included the International Show in Radom (Poland), the Club Show in Kovalovice (Czech Republic), a tripleheader – two International Shows and a Club Show in Nitra (Slovakia), four days of hunting training in Austria, and a five-day active stay with our friend Jerry in Zlín, he simply decided that it was all too much. Not that he was being naughty, but he was dragging his feet. The weather – sweltering heat – didn't help either. Neither did the surface of the Sokol Stadium with its potholes and poorly mowed grass. And to top it all off, the judge's assessment was rather lax, as once again (for the umpteenth time this year at the Czech National Show!) the assessment did not include an inspection on the show table. So this time, even the professional presentation by handler Ester Miháleková didn't help, and the result is V2, res. CAC in the intermediate class. Yes, it's not a bad result, but... we're a little scared of what will happen at the next National Show in Mladá Boleslav. Maybe they won't even run in the ring anymore?

Fortunately, we enjoyed lunch at our favorite restaurant in Loděnice, and my wife was able to make it to her work weekend without any problems.

At least the owner took some nice photos, and yes, the show table was there, but it wasn't used by the judges.

  • Hugo visits Jerry in Zlín – 22.-26.6.2025

Friends are just friends! So our Hugo didn't go home to Freddy after his hunting training in Austria, but extended his "vacation" by a few days with his friend Jerry in Zlín.

The weather was great and the boys enjoyed lots of trips around Zlín, this time even with the three of them and "the black intruder" Attila (i.e. the Slovakian hound). Many thanks to Petra for the great program for all the dogs! Hugo came back in a good mood and in great shape.

We look forward to Jerry visiting us in Karlštejn neighborhood again sometime in return.

Freddy is happy to have his big brother home again; without him, it was just boring with only his mistress around :-).

  • Jagdliche Übungstage des ABC – 19.-22.6.2025

While Freddy and his owner were exhibiting in Brno, Hugo was scheduled to participate in hunting training organized by the Austrian Beagle Club. The four-day training camp took place in a hunting ground near the picturesque village of St. Kathrein am Hauenstein in Styria.

The focus was on deepening obedience, staying put, staying calm after a shot, reacting to game, and, most importantly, working on color (colored trail), which we learned to establish and then work on with the dog.

Hugo liked this discipline the most and was highly praised by the instructors for his performance. On the last day, he tried a trail that was over 20 hours old in difficult terrain and reliably navigated all the obstacles to reach the game.

It was a wonderful four days spent with our Austrian colleagues and their dogs. We will definitely repeat it next year as preparation for the Austrian bloodhound trials.

  • Dog Expo Nitra and Club Show KCHB – 13.-15.6.2025

As members of the Slovak Beagle Club we did not miss the club show and when we went to Nitra, we also missed two of the three internationals that were held in the same place. Both beagles went on the trip only with one their owner (the other owner was abroad). In order not to have too much work in ring, only Hugo (Néreus Hare and Hounds) showed. But they had fun anyway, because Jerry (Jeremi z Kunčiček) with his owner Petra and uncle Michal completed the group.

Both starting beagles were alternately successful, but in the end both Hugo and Jerry left with honour and managed to finish Slovak Junior Champion, to which we congratulate Jerry and Petra very much.

But the mood was excellent despite the alternating successes, the whole group enjoyed it to the max and Freddy was glad he was on a trip and didn't have to show off :-)

  • Hugo is a Stud Dog! 7.6.2025

Dnešním dnem (7.6.2025) je to naše ušatý torpédo Hugo (Néreus Hare and Hounds) oficiálně mezi dospělými psy, rozuměj je z něj chovný jedinec.

Last week he passed his first BOB (Best of Breed) at International Dog Show Radom - Szydlowiec (PL) with BIG2 and today he and his handler Ester Miháleková the last beautiful dot with V3 from intermediate class at Club show of Beagle Club CZ.

In addition, along the way we gained a lot of excellent marks and evaluations, sometimes we also stumbled somewhere, but the overall results in the form of several valuable championships, many CAJC, J-CACIB, BOJ, CAC, adult CACIB, BOS and BOB are amazing.

    We are proud of him!

Thanks to all who accompanied us on our annual show trip – judges, handlers, friends.

And now Hugo, go to college – hunting training and trials with your owner.

  • International Dog Show Opole, Poland – 26.4.2025

In April, we planned our second trip to Poland, this time to an international exhibition held in the beautiful surroundings of Moszna Castle near Opole, Poland.

The nicer the area was, the worse the surface of the ring was with uncut and completely wet grass and uneven surface. In addition, the staff assigned to the ring clearly did not know what to do. Nevertheless, we fought back and Hugo in his last start in junior class won the last BOJbut most importantly CACIB-J and CAJCthereby completing two championships (Polish Junior Champion and CIB-J).

Freddy Freddy still doesn't like the grass (especially not the tall one), but he eventually stood up nicely on the table and in Puppy class he was awarded VP1 and The best puppy in the breed. For Freddy, this result also means fulfilled conditions of the second puppy championship, this time in Poland.

Amazing positive atmosphere in the ring and smooth course of judging despite the above-mentioned obstacles was again prepared for us by a great judge Mrs. Lenka Frnčová, for which she deserves a big THANK YOU for all participating exhibitors.

And we added two more medals to our collection!
